Monitor Refresh Rate Test - Check Your Hz & FPS

Check your monitor's refresh rate (Hz) and frame rate (FPS) in the browser.

Photosensitivity warning: This test uses animated content. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, please do not use this tool.

Refresh Rate (FPS) Test

Estimates average FPS from frame rendering intervals in the browser. Measurement starts automatically without clicking.

Refresh Rate (Hz) vs. Frame Rate (FPS)

Refresh Rate (Hz) is how many times per second your display redraws the screen (e.g., 60Hz/144Hz/240Hz/360Hz). Meanwhile, FPS (Frames Per Second) is the approximate number of frames your PC or browser can render per second. In practice, even with high FPS, if the display Hz is low, perceived smoothness will be limited. Conversely, high Hz with low FPS results in noticeable stuttering.

What This Test Measures (Approximate)

This page aggregates the frame rendering interval (Delta ms) and displays the average FPS as an approximation. However, the browser is strongly affected by OS, power saving, tab state, GPU load, VSync, etc., so this is not a precise measurement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Why is my value stuck at 60 FPS?
A. Your display refresh rate may be 60Hz, or VSync or similar may be synchronizing the draw. Check your monitor settings as well as browser/OS power-saving settings.
Q. I have 144Hz/240Hz but the number is low or inconsistent
A. This can be caused by an inactive tab, power plan settings, GPU load, browser throttling, or background processes. Try fullscreen/foreground mode with other apps closed for more stable results.
Q. Can this test definitively determine my refresh rate?
A. No, it cannot provide a definitive answer. This is a browser-based approximation. For accurate confirmation, it is recommended to also check your OS display settings, monitor OSD display, and in-game FPS counters.
