Level Guide (median-based)

SS
Ultra low
Extremely low input latency. A high-end setup.
〜2ms
S
Low
Excellent — possibly a high refresh rate environment.
2.1〜4ms
A
Good
A good result for a typical gaming setup.
4.1〜8ms
B
Average
The common range — standard for 60-144Hz environments.
8.1〜12ms
C
A bit slow
Possibly a 60Hz display or a loaded system.
12.1〜16ms
D
Slower
Browser load or VSync may be weighing heavily.

What Is Input Latency?

Between pressing a mouse button and seeing the result on screen lies a small delay — that's input latency. Only milliseconds, but in competitive games those milliseconds decide fights.

The delay isn't born in one place: it accumulates in small amounts across the mouse itself, the connection, the PC's processing, and the display. That's why improving any single link never transforms the total.

How to Read the Numbers

Every run produces slightly different values. Judge by the median, not the average — the middle value of the sorted results, resistant to freak outliers.

The other number to watch is jitter, the spread of the measurements. Smaller means steadier. A setup with a good average but high jitter feels subtly snaggy in play.

How to Reduce Input Lag

  • Go wired — wireless varies enormously between products
  • Use a higher refresh rate display; the wait for the next frame itself shrinks
  • Close background apps — a busy system queues your input behind other work
  • Disable the display's video processing; enable game mode where available
  • Set the power plan toward high performance; power saving dulls response

This test measures in-browser processing time, not the mouse or connection in isolation. Use it for comparisons across setting changes in the same environment.

What Is Mouse Input Latency?

Input latency is the processing delay from a mouse click until the browser renders the next frame. The smaller the value, the faster your input reaches the screen.

This tool measures the gap between the moment a click is detected and the next render timing, reported as input-to-render latency.

What Affects the Results

Browser JS load, refresh rate (Hz), VSync, OS input processing, and your mouse’s polling rate all combine to shape the number. Even in the same setup, tab load shifts the values — close other tabs before measuring.

Tips for Stable Measurement

Click at a steady rhythm and avoid any other activity during the run. Background tabs and heavy processes push the values up. Base your judgment on the median.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can it measure USB or device-level input lag?
A. No. This tool measures only in-browser processing latency. Device-level physical input lag and USB transfer delay are not included.
Q. Can I use it to compare gaming mice?
A. For relative comparison in the same PC and browser environment, yes. Just note it is not an absolute device-latency figure.
Q. The values jump around — which metric should I trust?
A. Use the median. The average is dragged by outliers, and jitter (mean of consecutive differences) is your gauge of stability.
