Speaker & Headphone Test - Stereo, Bass & Frequency Check

Test your speakers, headphones, or earphones for left/right channels, phase, frequency response, bass, and balance in the browser.

Speaker Test / Headphone Test / Earphone Test

A free online tool to test your speakers, headphones, or earphones directly in your browser. Check left/right channels, phase (polarity), frequency sweep (20Hz-20kHz), bass test (20-200Hz), left/right balance adjustment, tone generator, and noise generator (white, pink, brown). Also useful for verifying speaker L/R orientation, headphone polarity, and subwoofer bass reproduction.

Speaker & Headphone Test

Check left/right channels, phase, frequency sweep, bass, balance, tone, and noise all in one place.

Please be careful with volume levels. Lower your system volume before testing, especially when using headphones.

Left/Right Channel Test

Verify that sound is coming from the correct speaker or earphone on each side.

L
Left
R
Right
"Left Only" plays a 440Hz sine wave from the left, and "Right Only" from the right. If you hear them reversed, check your cables or connections.
2

Phase (Polarity) Test

Check whether the left and right signals are in phase or out of phase. Helps detect wiring errors or polarity issues.

In Phase (Normal)L/R same waveform
Out of Phase (Inverted)R is inverted
In phase, the sound is firmly centered. When out of phase, the sound becomes diffuse and thin, especially the bass, which may seem to disappear. The difference is easier to hear with headphones.
3

Frequency Sweep (20Hz - 20kHz)

Sweep across the entire audible range from low to high to check which frequency bands you can hear.

Duration:
Young people can typically hear approximately 20Hz to 20kHz, but it is common for high-frequency hearing to decline with age.
4

Bass Test (20 - 200Hz)

Play specific low frequencies to check the bass reproduction capability of your speakers or headphones.

Small speakers and earphones may not be able to reproduce frequencies below 40Hz. This test can also be used to verify subwoofer operation.
5

Balance Test

Independently adjust left and right volume levels to check the stereo balance.

L100%
R100%
Set both to 100% and verify the sound is centered. Setting one to 0% lets you check each side individually.
6

Tone Generator

Generate a tone with any waveform and frequency. Useful for tuning and hearing checks.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. No sound is playing
A. First, click the "Start Test (Enable Audio)" button to enable audio. If there is still no sound, check that your browser audio is not muted, that your system volume is not set to zero, and that the correct output device is selected.
Q. Left and right are reversed
A. Check the L/R markings on your headphones or earphones. For speakers, verify that the wiring is not reversed, or check your OS audio settings for channel inversion.
Q. I cannot hear any bass at all
A. Small speakers and earphones may physically be unable to reproduce very low frequencies. It is common for frequencies below 40Hz to be inaudible without large speakers or a subwoofer. Increasing the volume may help, but please be careful with high volume levels.
Q. I cannot tell the difference in the phase test
A. The difference may be subtle when listening through speakers. With headphones, the in-phase sound is clearly centered inside your head, while the out-of-phase sound spreads out and the bass weakens noticeably.
