Free Online Stopwatch & Timer
How to Use
Stopwatch
Select the Stopwatch tab at the top. Press Start to begin, Stop to pause, and Resume to continue where you left off. Press Lap during a run to record the elapsed time at that moment in an ordered list. The fastest and slowest laps are highlighted automatically so pace trends stand out at a glance. Keyboard shortcuts: Space, L, and R.Timer
Select the Timer tab at the top. Enter hours, minutes, and seconds directly — or pick a preset (1, 3, 5, 10, 25, 30 minutes, 1 hour) — and press Start. A circular ring visualizes the countdown, flashing red for the final 10 seconds. At zero, a triple beep sounds (toggle with the volume icon). Pause anytime, resume where you stopped, or reset to time again from the top. What People Use It For
Studying & Exam Prep
The timer is perfect for the Pomodoro Technique — 25 minutes of focus, 5 minutes of rest, repeated. Tracking total daily study time with the stopwatch is great for motivation, and timed past-paper drills train you to finish within the limit.Cooking & Kitchen
Pasta and noodle boil times, simmer control, oven countdowns — it works beautifully as a kitchen timer. Just prop your phone up on the counter. Turn the volume up and you\u2019ll hear the finish beep from the next room.Workouts & Sports
Running laps, swim intervals, rest periods between sets, and work/rest management for HIIT sessions. The lap feature makes time trends easy to compare.Work & Presentations
Time-box agenda items in meetings, rehearse presentations, and keep discussions on schedule. Measuring how long each task really takes also surfaces clues for improving your workflow.Naps & Relaxation
A 15-20 minute power nap restores afternoon performance. The timer also paces meditation, breathing practice, and stretching intervals. How to Run the Pomodoro Technique
- Set the timer to 25 minutes and press Start
- Focus on one task until it rings (notifications off, phone face down)
- At the beep, start a 5-minute break timer
- That is one set (one pomodoro) — repeat four times
- After four sets, take a longer 15-30 minute break
Stopwatch or Timer: Which to Use
A stopwatch measures time elapsed; a timer alerts you when a set time runs out. Want to know how long something took? Stopwatch. Want to stop at a set point? Timer.
It runs in the browser, so there's nothing to install — and you can keep working on your PC without reaching for the phone.
How to Use Lap Timing
Laps record split times without stopping the clock — per-lap times mid-run, or per-step times across a work process.
A single total time never tells you where the time went. Split the recording and the bottlenecks reveal themselves when you review.
Timeboxing Your Focus
Focus for a fixed block, rest briefly, repeat — the well-known rhythm for getting work done. The classic split is 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off.
It works because a visible endpoint makes focus easier. "Until it's done" stretches ahead exhaustingly; "just 25 minutes" lowers the barrier to starting.
The right block length is personal. Find the duration that ends just before your focus does.
Closing the tab or letting the device sleep can interrupt timing. For long measurements, keep the screen awake.
