What Is an APM Test?

APM (Actions Per Minute) measures how many effective operations you can perform in one minute — the standard skill metric across RTS (real-time strategy) and MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) games. This tool wraps it in a game modeled on MOBA minion CS (creep score) farming, measuring the practical speed of clicking with priorities.

How Last-Hit Scoring Works

Minions with HP bars spawn continuously at random positions. Each minion’s HP drains over time (reaching zero in 2s);click before HP hits zero for a kill, or let it expire and it counts as missed. Better yet, killing under 30% HP scores a last hit — proof of superior judgment and timing.

Why Last-Hit Style Is More Realistic

In real MOBA matches, mindless spam-clicking wins nothing. What matters is scanning the whole screen and clearing the highest-priority targets. With multiple minions alive at once, this tool forces you to triage the ones about to expire — making it a far more practical APM measure than pure click-spam metrics like a CPS test.

APM Test vs. CPS Test

CPS (Clicks Per Second) measures raw burst clicking over 5-15 seconds — essentially finger speed. This APM test instead counts targets judged and cleared per minute; empty clicks and irrelevant inputs score nothing. Think of CPS as finger spam, and this APM as brain-hand coordination plus prioritization.

Rank Guide

Under 30 KPM: beginner / casual player.
30-50: typical MOBA/RTS player. Drops some CS but has the basics.
50-75: intermediate. Consciously reads minion priority.
75-100: advanced. Upper-rank CS efficiency in MOBA terms.
100-130: pro level. Tournament-grade wave clearing.
130+: superhuman. Close to the theoretical ceiling.
These are relative to this tool’s spawn rate (one every 0.5s, max 7 at once). Real CS farming also involves movement, abilities, and an opposing player, so direct comparison has limits.

How to Improve

(1) Watch the edges: don’t lock your gaze on the center — catch spawns with peripheral vision.
(2) Prioritize low HP: with several minions alive, clear the lowest-HP ones first. This raises your last-hit rate.
(3) Accept some misses: panicking to kill everything breeds mistakes. Sacrificing one or two in hard moments is correct play.
(4) Audit your gear: a high polling rate mouse and low-latency monitor raise your reaction ceiling. See also the mouse polling rate test and the refresh rate test.

How Measurement Works & Caveats

Only clicks that land on a minion inside the play area count as kills. Empty clicks and clicks outside the stage are ignored. Minion HP drains linearly over 2s, with smooth CSS-animated rendering. ESC only stops the session and never counts as game input.
Browser rendering delay, monitor refresh rate, and mouse polling rate make absolute values environment-dependent. The right goal is beating your own best in the same environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is APM?
A. Actions Per Minute — how many operations (such as clicks) you can perform in one minute. It is the standard speed metric in RTS and MOBA games, where competitive pros post 100-200+ kills per minute.
Q. What exactly does this tool measure?
A. Modeled on MOBA minion last-hitting (CS farming), minions with HP bars spawn continuously. HP drains over time; click before it reaches zero to score a kill, or the minion escapes and counts as missed. APM is calculated as kills per minute.
Q. What is a last hit?
A. Killing a minion by clicking while its HP is under 30%. In MOBAs, the player who lands the final blow earns the gold, so timing the killing strike while watching the HP bar is a core skill. A high last-hit rate shows superior judgment-plus-execution timing.
Q. Do misses affect my APM?
A. Not directly — but heavy missing suppresses your total kills, dragging the score down indirectly. The test measures not just click speed but the judgment to scan the whole screen and prioritize.
Q. How do average APM and peak APM differ?
A. Average APM is total kills divided by elapsed minutes. Peak APM is the APM of your densest consecutive 10-second window — a measure of your momentary bursts.
Q. Which duration should I pick?
A. 30 seconds is a burst gauge, 60 seconds the standard measurement (about one MOBA wave), and 120 seconds leans toward endurance. Real matches run 10-30 minutes, so consistent killing over time is true skill. Start with 60 seconds to establish your baseline.
Q. Is there a fullscreen mode?
A. Yes. The Fullscreen button at the top right of the play area expands the clickable region — a real advantage. Press ESC to stop the session.
Q. What are the rank thresholds?
A. Under 30 KPM: beginner; 30-50: casual player; 50-75: intermediate; 75-100: advanced; 100-130: pro level; 130+: superhuman. MOBA last-hit practice is about taking as much CS as possible without drops — this tool is a quick gauge of that skill.
