About This Webcam Test
This page uses your browser to test your webcam. It displays your camera's resolution, FPS (reported and measured), device name, and aspect ratio in real time. You can also take snapshots, toggle mirror mode, and go fullscreen.
A quick microphone check is also included so you can verify both your camera and microphone at the same time. Great for pre-meeting checks on Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or before streaming and recording.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. The permission dialog doesn't appear or I get an error
A. Check the camera icon in your browser's address bar to review permissions. Camera access requires HTTPS. Also verify that your OS privacy settings allow your browser to access the camera.
Q. Resolution or FPS appears lower than expected
A. Browsers automatically select an optimal resolution. Camera specs, USB bandwidth limits, and sharing with other apps can all affect the output. Even high-resolution cameras may be limited by browser constraints.
Q. The video appears flipped horizontally
A. Mirror mode is ON by default, which is standard for video calls (like looking in a mirror). If you need to read text or see the actual orientation, toggle "Mirror OFF". Snapshots reflect the current mirror setting.
Q. My camera rank seems low
A. Rank is calculated from resolution × FPS. It depends on browser-selected settings, which may differ from your camera's actual specs. 720p+ at 30fps+ earns an A–S rank.
Q. The mic volume bar isn't responding
A. Make sure microphone permission is granted and the correct device is selected. For a more detailed analysis (waveform, spectrum & more), visit the Mic Test page.
